WINTER WANDERER

 

It’s the perfect excursion for a winter dream holiday! Winter in Europe is packed with activities to try and places to explore. This tour visits 11 countries, each with its own unique flavor and attractions. Some of the highlights of the tour include driving along the French Riviera, exploring the beautiful City of Rome (it’s never too cold for Gelato!), trying an oversized stein of Bavarian beer in Munich, and sampling traditional Spanish tapas in Barcelona. There’s a ton to do in Europe, even in the winter time. 


Trip Itinerary

Day 1: London to Paris. Meet ouri crew on our way to the White Cliffs of Dover and the cross-Channel ferry to France. Tonight, an evening tour of the illuminations of Paris. (D)

Day 2: Paris Sightseeing. Today, a full day for you to explore Paris. There’s time to shop on the Champs Elysées, take in a museum or stroll by the Seine. Tonight join us for dinner and a famous Parisien cabaret. (B)

Day 3: Paris to Lyon. South from Paris, we pass through beautiful countryside and the famous vineyards of the Burgundy region to Lyon, at the confluence of the Rhône and Saône Rivers. (B)

Days 4-5: Lyon to Barcelona. Southwards to Barcelona. Time to view Gaudi’s amazing and unique cathedral. See the 1992 Olympic Games complex. Then try ‘tapas’, go shopping or perhaps take in a flamenco show. (B,D) (B)

Days 6-7: Barcelona to Nice - French Riviera. Today we return to France and the Riviera playground before arriving at our hotel in Nice. A whole day to explore and shop at your leisure is followed by an evening in Monaco and the chance to try your luck in the casinos of Monte Carlo. (B,D) (B)

Day 8: Nice to Florence. First visit a French perfumery and see some spectacular coastal scenery before arriving in Pisa. From there, it’s on to the Renaissance city of Florence. Tonight why not delight in a wonderful Tuscan dinner? (B)

Days 9-10: Florence to Rome. This morning we meet our local expert for a walking tour of Florence’s Duomo, Basilica of Santa Croce, Giotto’s Belltower, the Baptistry and Piazza della Signoria. Enjoy a demonstration of traditional Florentine leathercraft and shop for silver and gold. We travel on to Rome for our orientation tour and a chance for you to visit the Vatican City. (B) (B,D)

Days 11-12: Rome to Venice. Great scenery on our drive to Venice where a complimentary motorboat takes us to see Piazza San Marco, the Doges' Palace and the Bridge of Sighs. Maybe enjoy a gondola ride. (B,D) (B)

Days 13-14: Venice to Vienna. Now to Austria and our special Resort Hotel chosen for its superb amenities. On our city tour, see the museums, the Hofburg Palace and St Stephen’s Cathedral. Resort Hotel (B) (B,D)

Day 15: Vienna to Munich. To the city of Munich with its famous glockenspiel. Experience a typical beer hall in this fun-loving Bavarian capital. (B)

Days 16-17: Munich to Mt Pilatus - Lucerne. Today we stop for lunch in Vaduz, the capital of Liechtenstein, before reaching Lucerne. Catch a cable-car up to our hotel (weather permitting), perched 2100m above sea-level on Mount Pilatus. Enjoy the delights of Lucerne with its wooden bridge and lakeside views. Shop for Swiss watches and local chocolates. (N.B. When Mt Pilatus is inaccessible due to weather conditions, we stay at a hotel at the foot of the mountain). Resort Hotel (B,D) (B,D)

Day 18: Lucerne to the Rhine Valley. Through Germany and along the River Rhine to St Goar. Shop for beersteins, taste the local wines and take in the scenery surrounding this picturesque town. (B,D)

Days 19-20: Rhine Valley to Berlin. Visit this city’s famous sights including the Reichstag, the Brandenburg Gate and the point where Checkpoint Charlie once stood. (B,D) (B)

Day 21: Berlin to Hamburg. Leaving Berlin we travel to Hamburg. Explore this Hanseatic city, with its modern shops and historic port. (B,D)

Days 22-23: Hamburg to Amsterdam. Visit a diamond centre and perhaps explore the Rijks and Van Gogh Museums. Our visit to the Dutch countryside includes a cheese & clog-making demonstration. On our last night, a chance to get together for a farewell dinner. (B,D) (B)

Day 24: Amsterdam to London. We travel south through the Dutch and Belgian countryside to Calais, France for our ferry back to Dover, reaching London early evening. (B)

‘La Certosa’ is a charming 16th Century building set in the scenic Tuscan hills. Begin the evening with a glass of Campari, then carry on with a typical Tuscan meal including an excellent anti-pasta collection of cold meats and salads, then tuck into a variety of delicious pasta, followed by a wonderfully aromatic main course - all washed down with the local Chianti. But there’s more to it than just a charming setting and the culinary delights of Italy. Entertainment is also on tonight’s menu, a pianist to set a romantic mood and opera singers to serenade you.
