In Winchester, William The
Conqueror built one of his first castles in England.
The Great Hall is the only
surviving part of the castle and it's now home to the legendary King
Arthur's Round Table.
The city greatest glory is its
Norman Cathedral, with the longest nave in Europe. A place of
worship for over 900 years it's the burial place of early English
Kings and the writer Jane Austen.
We travel through The
New Forest , one of the few oak woods is England and was once a
hunting ground of Norman Kings. In 1079 , it was named by William The
Conqueror, his " new hunting forest".
The 1500 deer, which are one of the forest's
great attractions belong to the Crown, while the 3000 shaggy ponies,
unique to the area, belong to the commoners.
