SURF IN FRANCE OR SPAIN

Surf in France or Spain

 from the 1st of April till the 10th of October 2007.


The Surfari is based in Biarritz, in the middle of the surf rich Basque coast, close to Europe's most famous spots. We can pick you up from San Sebastian (40 km south) or Biarritz airport or train station. Our vans roll North and South of Biritz every day, so you get a chance to see many different places and surf many different spots. Depending on the length of your stay you'll have the opportunity to surf:

Mundaka, Roca Puta, Zarautz, Hossegor,
Zurriola (San Sebastian), St. Jean de Luz,
Lafitenia, Biarritz, Anglet, CapBreton...

WHAT WE DO?

SURF... Some Europe's hottest spots.
PARTY... At the campsite, on the beaches, in the local bars.
SIGHT-SEEING... See famous towns, like Biarritz, or quaint unknown villages.
CHILL OUT... In hammocks at the campsite, or sunbaking on the beach.
MAKE FRIENDS... Meet other young, relaxed, friendly, surfers or gonna-be surfers. Equally as popular with guys as it is for girls. Great mix for a shit load of fun!

WHAT WE COST?

From only 41,50€ A DAY!

- 7 days/6 nights: 290€ ! (add. night for 41,50€)

- 3 days/2 nights: 135€ ! (add. night for 45€)

- Less than 3 days: 50€ a day

SURFING LESSONS

We can provide a mix of theory and practical instruction for anyone from raw beginners to experienced surfers We provide all the best boards and equipment (or you can bring your own) and we've got anything you need to catch the best wave that you can. Our emphasis is always on the fun of surfing, the best surfer in the water is the one having fun...

 

WHERE WE SLEEP?

We spend the nights in the most wicked camping along the coast. Just a minutes stroll down to the waves and an on-site bar that goes off and there are no families or old fogies to spoil the good times.
We provide tents and mattresses. We can provide sleeping sheet / sleeping bag at a cost of 3€ / day.
WHAT WE EAT & DRINK?

We serve you up 3 hearty meals to give you the energy to keep you on the waves, and to line your stomach so you can hit the bars.
Breakfast are generally Continental or French style with baguettes and croissants, with some cereals and fruits, juices and coffees to boot... Occassionaly we cure the hangover with an English Fry-Up!
Lunches... usually picnics or BBQ's with baguetttes and salads etc.
VEGETARIANS... we cater for you guys too!
For Drinkers, we get you started with the FIRST 2 BEERS / SANGRIAS FREE! We have a bar fridge stacked with more for you to help yourself (1€).
We often head on down to the beach at nights for an impromptu BEACH PARTY.

 

How to get there

PICK UPS

You can start your surfari on any day. The  shuttle vans do daily pick/ups from San Sebastian and Biarritz . Too easy

In Biarritz :

- We do daily pick-ups from the tourist office (office du tourisme) at 13.30. From the airport, buses leave for the centre of town, where the tourist office is, every 15 minutes. The drive will take about ten minutes.

- From the railway station/bus station, there are also regular buses that can drop you off at the tourist office. A taxi to the tourist office wouldn't cost you more than 10€.

- For 15€ per transfer we can pick you up at the airport/railway station.

In San Sebastian :

- We do daily pick-ups at the San Sebastian bus station (where Vibasa buses arrives) at 11.45, and in front of Marujo Surf Shop at 12.00.

- When you arrive later you can catch a train to Hendaye (Eusko tren), with trains every half hour for about 2.50€. When in Hendaye you hop on the train to Biarritz for about 5€. The trip from San Sebastian to Biarritz takes about an hour. Alternatively, you can catch a bus directly from the San Sebastian bus station.

GETTING TO SAN SEBASTIAN / BIARRITZ?

From Barcelona :
- By Bus : Vibasa buses leave from Barcelona Sants train station at 08.00, 15.30 and 23.50 (23.45 on weekends) . The tickets are approximately 30€. The trip takes 7 hours. Call Vibasa on +34 902 10 13 63 for availability, or check (There are overnight buses that arrive in San Sebastian early in the morning)
- By Train : There are five trains daily, departing from Barcelona Sants for San Sebastian. Contact Renfe on 902 24 02 02 or check on for timetables and availability.

Book transportation for 35€ one way (a train ticket is 38€), directly to the surfcamp, for group over 6 people at:

From Madrid :
- By Bus : There are several daily services and the journey lasts for about 5 and a half hours (Coach company: Continental Auto, Coach station: located in Alenza Street-calle Alenza).
- By train : Renfe has trains that service San Sebastian several times daily. The trains deport from Estacion de Chamartin, and it takes about 7 hours. Check or call +34 902 24 02 02.

From Bilbao :
- By Bus : Upon arrival at the airport of Bilbao, you have to get to the Interbus bus station. There is a coach service from Bilbao to San Sebastiαn every hour (Coach companies: Alsa and Pesa).
- By train : Euskotren has trains to San Sebastian. The ride, through beautiful countryside, takes about three hours. Tickets can be bought on the spot. Call +34 944 019 900 for more information.

From London :
- Ryanair flies from Stansted to Biarritz daily and cheaply. Check for timetables and availability.
- flies to Bilbao, 1 hour south of San Seb, and to Bordeaux, just north of Biarritz.
- For those environmentally friendly or scared of flying, Eurolines, leave from Victoria Coach Station and go to Bayonne. Bayonne is 15 minutes from Biarritz by bus.

From Dublin :
- Ryainair flies from Dublin to Biarritz daily... Check

From Holland and Belgium :
- By Bus : Eurolines drives to Biarritz daily. You can book on their website on or call Eurolines +31 020 560 8788
- By Train: The TGV (very very fast train) leaves from Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Den Haag, Brussels, Brugge, Luik, Gent en Oostende to Biarritz. From Amsterdam the train ride will take about 9 hours. On you can reserve your ticket, or you can call Teleservice NS Internationaal +31 0900 92 96 (0,35€ per minute).

From the rest of the universe :
You may need to book two flights, one to London, Dublin or Frankfurt, and then a connector onto Biarritz. has the cheapest deals to Biarritz.
Remember that London-Biarritz flights leave from Stansted, so fly straight there or allow plenty of time to transfer.
