Friday
- Day 1
Early morning coach pick ups and
arriving for the 09:30 ferry from Dover-Calais. Our first stop is in
Brussels, the headquarters of the EU. A chance to visit the Grand
Place, Mannekin Pis and Brussels Cathedral, and time to do some
shopping for Brussels specialties, Lace, Chocolate and Beer!!!! We
depart Brussels late afternoon for the drive to our Barge in Amsterdam
Harbour. Walking distance to all main attractions in the City, and
with its own bar, a truly unique place to stay in a unique city!
Saturday - Day 2
An early breakfast followed by a
visit to Zaanse Schanse, a living Dutch Museum. If it is typical of
Holland you will find it here. Windmills, Cheese-makers, Clog makers
and typical Dutch dress. The afternoon is spent in Amsterdam City
Center with some free time to visit Van Gogh Museum, Rijksmuseum,
Heineken Brewery, Anne Frank House and Dam Square. In the evening
there is a Canal Cruise with commentary, followed by an optional tour
of the Red Light District.
Sunday – Day 3
A free day in Amsterdam, or join
the coach for the optional excursion to Keukenhoff (entry extra).
Every Spring Keukenhoff comes alive with an incredible display of
colour. Millions of tulips and other flowers are in their bloom.
Covering an area of 32 hectares it is a real experience for people of
all ages and a spectacle to photograph!!
Coach returns to Amsterdam late afternoon.
Monday – Day 4
We depart Amsterdam after
breakfast for a full day in Bruges, the ‘Venice of the North’.
Bruges is one of Europe’s best preserved medieval cities. It is rich
in architectural and artistic treasures, graced by quiet canals and
waterways and a real favorite to visitors.
Departing Bruges late afternoon for the drive to Calais we stop
en-route at a Beer/Wine and Tobacco warehouse for some last minute
discount shopping. Drop offs in late evening.
